The Aarhus Camino is an inclusive network of walking and pilgrimage routes in Denmark, dedicated to making the transformative experience of long-distance hiking accessible to everyone. Founded on the principle of openness, our network is thoughtfully designed and tested to accommodate all people, including those with low physical mobility, wheelchair users, and families with young children.
We connect existing and new trails across Central and Eastern Jutland, linking our beautiful region to famous national and international pilgrimage routes like Hærvejen. To ensure a welcoming journey for all, we provide comprehensive mapping materials, organize community group walks, and are establishing an affordable network of overnight accommodations suitable for hikers on any budget.
The ultimate purpose of the Aarhus Camino extends beyond the trail itself. We aim to promote the mental and physical health benefits of immersing oneself in nature, while reviving the tradition of pilgrimage as a powerful tool for personal growth, community connection, and spiritual development. By mobilizing local communities to host travelers and fostering sustainable tourism, the Aarhus Camino creates a shared space where everyone, regardless of physical or financial ability, can embark on a journey of discovery.
