From calm walks to bold treks
The Way of the Islands

Looking for an easy escape? The Way of the Islands is the most accessible of our three trails, with mostly flat terrain and short, relaxing stages of 20 km or less.

Your journey begins along the serene Horsens Fjord and continues across the charming islands of Alrø, Tunø, and Samsø. As you approach Aarhus, you’ll be rewarded with the stunning south coast and a walk through the enchanting Moesgaard Forest, home to the renowned Moesgaard Museum.

Getting started is simple: take the train to Horsens, or shorten your trip by hopping on a ferry from Aarhus straight to Samsø.

The Way of the Mountains

Ready for an adventure? This intermediate trail offers rolling hills and breathtaking views.

Start by exploring the stunning coastline south of Grenaa, then wander through the charming streets of Ebeltoft. Conquer the “mountains” of Mols Bjerge National Park, follow the dramatic cliffs of Helgenæs, and step back in time at the ruins of Kalø Castle before finishing along Aarhus’ picturesque north coast.

Getting there is easy: take the Letbanen light rail from Aarhus to Grenaa, arrive by ferry from Sweden, or fly into Aarhus Airport.

The Way of the
Stones and Water

Looking for a true challenge? This is the most demanding of the three trails, with long stages that take you deep into nature, along rivers and shimmering lakes.

Your adventure begins in the historic town of Jelling, home to the iconic 10th-century runestones – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a cornerstone of Danish history. Along the way, discover other cultural gems like Øm Kloster and the charming town of Skanderborg.

Reaching the starting point is simple: take the train to Jelling, or fly into Billund Airport and walk straight into your journey.
